At Rush Hair Studio, our mission has always been to provide exceptional service and create a welcoming space for our clients to feel their best. Unfortunately, we’ve found it necessary to implement a new reservation policy due to an increase in last-minute cancellations and no shows. We hope you understand that this decision wasn’t made lightly, and it’s vital for the sustainability and livelihoods of our stylists.
Our stylists are commission-based professionals, meaning their income depends on the services they provide. When appointments are canceled without proper notice or clients don’t show up, it leaves our stylists with an empty chair, no income for that time, and little to no opportunity to fill the spot. Additionally, it affects our apprentices and support staff, whose wages we must still pay even when they have no work due to last-minute schedule changes. These situations create financial stress and disrupt the growth and training opportunities we provide for our entire team.
Our Updated Policy
Effective immediately, we require all clients to provide credit card details when booking appointments. Rest assured, these details will be securely stored in compliance with the Privacy Act 2020.
Here’s how our updated policy will work:
• Cancellations prior to 48 hours’ notice will not incur any fees.
• Cancellations within 24–48 hours may result in a charge of 50% of the appointment cost. Our stylists will make every effort to fill the slot with a service of similar value. If the spot remains unfilled, the fee will apply.
• Cancellations within 24 hours or no-shows will be immediately charged 50% of the appointment cost, as it’s nearly impossible to fill these gaps on short notice. However if we manage to fill it, there will be no fee.
• Decreasing services on the day of your appointment will result in a charge of 50% of the value of the canceled portion of the service. If you decide to minimise or decrease the services you originally booked, it is comparable to cancelling half of your appointment.
This fee is entirely avoidable by showing up for your appointment or giving us at least 48 hours’ notice if you need to reschedule. Think of it like booking a hotel—if you cancel last minute or fail to check in, you are still charged for your reservation.
Alternative Booking Options
For those who prefer not to store credit card details on file, we offer the following alternatives:
1. Online booking with a deposit: Deposits will be forfeited if cancellations occur within 48 hours and the spot cannot be filled. No-shows will result in an automatic loss of the deposit.
2. Maintaining a credit balance: You can pay in advance via bank transfer or in-store. This credit will remain on your account as collateral and potentially lost for late cancellations or no-shows. Should you decide to stop visiting Rush, it will be refunded
3. Paying 50% upfront at the time of booking: Payments can be made in-store or via bank transfer.
4. Same-day bookings: Take advantage and gamble the availability of last-minute cancellations or join our waitlist.

We understand this policy may feel disappointing, but we hope you can see its necessity. Our stylists work incredibly hard, and one empty spot in their day can significantly impact their weekly income. This is a step we’re taking to ensure fairness and stability for everyone involved.
